Latvian Language Training for Ukrainian Civilians

New school year off to a busy start

Ievietots: 02.09.2022

On 1 September, learning is in full swing at the “Safe House”! The immigrants from Ukraine have already started their Latvian language course at the end of July.

Teacher Jelena says that this is a highly motivated group. They always do their homework, show extra interest, ask questions, try to learn the intonations of the Latvian language – teacher is  happy for these students!

If someone is ill or out of town for a while, they can also connect to the class via the internet. And this opportunity is used!

Learning is not only about traditional writing and reading. Adults, just like children, also learn language well through songs and games. "Head, shoulders, knees, toes!" - this song helped them learn the names of the parts of the body on 1 September.

Teacher Jelena says that learning language is inextricably linked to learning about culture. Any language topic reveals hundreds of nuances about a culture. Today, 1 September, the new arrivals from Ukraine had a reason to learn how the start of the new school year is celebrated in Latvia.

Have a safe, useful and interesting learning experience this year - in Latvia, in Ukraine, in all the places where learning takes place in the world!

The Latvian language training will take place within the project "Latvian language training for Ukrainian civilians" (project Nr.2022.LV/LVUKR/8). The event is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund from the allocated funds of the Latvian state budget.
