The society "Shelter “Safe House”" has won the right to provide state-funded social rehabilitation services for victims of trafficking.
If a person is recognised the victim in a criminal matter regarding the traffic of human beings (both in Latvia and in a foreign state), and the person has suffered moral injury or had physical suffering, the society „Shelter „Safe House”” provides:
- Professional social worker, psychologist, lawyer and medical advice;
- Repatriation of trafficking victims, their pick-up and delivery to a safe home;
- Individual rehabilitation and reintegration programmes;
- Assistance on the reconstruction of personal identification documents;
- Support during criminal proceedings;
- Involvement in training or education programmes.
The society has created an inter-professional team, which provides services of a social worker, social rehabilitator, psychologist, family physician, gynaecologist and lawyer.
Rehabilitation period funded by the state is 6 months. During this time, the organisation assures all the mentioned specialists’ advice, if necessary, the assistance of other specialists (for instance, psychiatrists, specialists from the Latvian Infectology centre), secure housing, the opportunity to receive material assistance for food, household and sanitary goods purchase, for medicine and medical examination reimbursement, as well as for clothing and footwear purchase.
After the 6-month rehabilitation programme, clients can get 5 additional reimbursed specialist consultations.
