The migration of children is a complex phenomenon that includes children seeking asylum, children force to work, children abandoned by parents who immigrated, as well as children trafficked for various purposes of exploitation. It’s difficult to estimate accurately the number of migrant children in the world, due to the complex and multifaceted nature of this phenomenon without borders. It is known, however, that this is a growing problem; thus necessary planning policies aimed at safeguarding the best interest of children.
10 million children under five die every year from preventative diseases, 300.000 child solders at any one time, 218 million child work of which 6 million work in “horrific and hazardous” situation, 1/5th of all girls are in a forced marriage, 1 million children are held in appropriate detention facilities at any one time, millions of children are involved in the migration processes and 1.2 million of them are trafficked yearly.
