On 19 June, beneficiaries of international protection came together to welcome and celebrate the Summer Solstice.
People from Latvia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria, Egypt, and Yemen gathered to learn about Latvian Midsummer traditions. Together, we sang traditional Līgo songs and took part in folk dances and games.
We enjoyed refreshments prepared by the association "Shelter "Safe House"" – traditional Jāņi cheese, bacon rolls, and the first strawberries of the season. The treats gave us energy to spend time together, sing, dance, and enjoy traditional games.
Our sincere thanks to the youth folklore group "Kokle" and the folk dance group "Čūskas" for making the celebration so special!
