Lately the number of youths who become victims of human trafficking, including sham marriages, forced labour and prostitution, has grown. To teach Latvian citizens about the risks, consequences and means of protection of human trafficking the goodwill and knowledge of every person is needed.
This time the main focus will be drawn to informing heads of institutions that work youths which is a major human trafficking risk group.
Since 2007 Society "Shelter "Safe House"" has been involved in providing state financed social rehabilitation to victims of human trafficking. So far 54 persons have recieved help.
Many do not want to identify themselves as victims of human trafficking. Some choose to get help via anonymous phone consultations or email. Others come for individual consultations to specialists of "Shelter "Safe house". In the first 5 months of 2012 such hep has been provided to 52 persons.
