World Refugee Day is celebrated on June 20, but the NGO "Shelter “Safe House"” invites you to an event on June 18 at 4:30 PM on Lāčplēša Street 75!
The theme of the event is "Feel Good in Latvia!" We strive to make Latvia a safe home for those in need of refuge, to help people feel comfortable and free.
The event will be opened with a speech by board member Gunta Vīksne, followed by informal activities.
Both newcomers and residents of Latvia are invited to participate in a quiz about the stereotypical "average Latvian." There will be various workshops, including wreath weaving, bracelet making, and creating a large communal painting led by Belarusian artist Olha Jakubovskaja. Delicious snacks will be served, and everyone will join in making a large pot of soup together.
The evening will conclude with a performance by the dance group "Rīgas Danči," giving everyone a chance to enjoy dances and games in the spirit of the upcoming solstice.
The project "Legal Assistance, Psychosocial Support, and Community Engagement Activities for Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Latvia" is implemented by the organization "Shelter Safe House" in cooperation with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
