Fourth out of the five lectures about Latvia have taken place

Ievietots: 21.12.2015

Social assistance system, fitting in with society and practical information on banking services – these are the topics the asylum seekers at the ASAC “Mucenieki” learned about during the fourth lecture about Latvia organised by “Shelter “Safe House””.

Participants were informed about the social assistance system, including about the services provided by the municipality and its social worker, what kind of consultations are available, how to deal with housing and other issues. When learning about the integration in the Latvian society, the participants were informed about the protection and principles of human rights in Latvia.

Since the participants had previously shown interest in the banking activities in Latvia, representatives of JSC “Swedbank” were invited to take part in this lecture and inform the participants about banking services, providing practical information on the possibilities for opening an account at “Swedbank”, explaining the interbank service fees, and answering other questions of those present.

The lecture was organised in seven languages – Latvian, Russian, English, Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi and French.

The last, fifth class is expected to take place on December 28, and an excursion in Riga is planned on December 29.

“Study Programme for Asylum Seekers – Introductory Course About Latvia” is implemented under the Agreement No. 5.1-15-32, concluded with the Ministry of Culture.
