In the latest series "I Live in Latvia: Here and Now" created by the Information Centre for Newcomers, together with Gita Mirushkina and Khushi Malhotra, we visit the building of the Latvian National Theater, where the founding of the Latvian state took place on November 18, 1918. We continue on with moving to the riverside of Daugava, where during the Bermontiad - at the end of 1919 - the defenders of Riga, fearlessly defending the capital of Latvia, had made entrenchments, from which they conducted their warfare. Next, we come to the Riga Castle wall, where every year on November 11 - Lāčplēsis Day - the inhabitants of Latvia solemnly commemorate the Latvian defenders who fell in the Latvian freedom fights, as well as in Bermontiad.
