In the next two and a half years society “Shelter “Safe House”” will continue to provide support to third-country nationals in the field of integration in Latvia

In the next two and a half years society “Shelter “Safe House”” will continue to provide support to third-country nationals in the field of integration in Latvia.

Society “Shelter “Safe House”” acquired the right to provide the Service for Coordination and Information Centre for Newcomers in round 3 of the activity from 01.07.2020 to 31.12.2022 by submitting the most competitive application in the public tender launched by the Ministry of Culture.

In the next thirty months, Society “Shelter “Safe House”” will help third-country nationals who are legal immigrants to integrate into Latvian society by providing advice and support in matters such as employment and starting business, housing, migration, family rights, translation services.

Third-country nationals will be able to get answers to questions of their interest on-site and remotely in Riga and Latvian regions: Daugavpils, Valmiera, Jelgava and Liepaja.

All ICN services will be provided in Latvian, Russian and English. If necessary, the consultation will involve an interpreter of rare languages or a language specialist with language skills like Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Arabic, French, Tajik, Kurdish, Punjabi, Chinese, Turkish, Uzbek, Hindi, Spanish, Tamil, Bengali, Vietnamese, and Armenian, etc. The organization notes that ICN will also provide free psychological counselling.

The total budget funding is 925,767.20 euros consisting of 75% funding of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund for 2014 – 2020 and state budget co-funding of 25%. 277,730.16 euros of the funding are intended for the provision of translation services. Activity II of the Information Centre for Newcomers in 01.07.2020 – 31.12.2022 is provided by Society “Shelter “Safe House””.
