To inform the general public about the activities and services provided by the Information Centre for Newcomers (ICI), ICI is organizing Open Day on the 17th of August from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at Lāčplēša Street 75-1B, Riga.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the ICI management, customer consultants in an informal atmosphere, ask questions, receive free advice, as well as engage in various creative activities organised by volunteers from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
It is planned that a meeting of the Inter-Sectoral Dialogue platform will be held on the topic “Public Attitude Towards Immigrants” during the Open Day from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The platform brings together representatives of national, local government authorities and non-governmental organizations active in the field of integration.

The Information Centre for Newcomers operates as a one-stop agency in Riga and four regional centres of Latvia – in Daugavpils, Jelgava, Cēsis and Liepāja –, providing wide-ranging support services free of charge to foreign citizens and service providers and specialists of various industries who work with this target group.
Since the establishment of ICI on 18 May 2016, the Centre has consulted more than 3,000 immigrants from countries outside the European Union such as India, Ukraine, Russia, China, Pakistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Eritrea, USA, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Iran, and Bangladesh. ICI currently has 23 interpreters and language specialists of 11 languages: Arabic, Kurdish, Dari, Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Turkish, Hindi, Tigrinya, Sorani, Georgian.
