On the EU Anti-Trafficking Day, “Shelter “Safe House”” provides an opportunity to participate in a special simulation game

Ievietots: 17.10.2014

To draw attention to the problem of human trafficking and educate different groups of society, the society “Shelter “Safe House”” traditionally organizes preventive measures against human trafficking that start on September 18 and finish on the EU Anti-Trafficking Day – October 18. This year, with the support of the Society Integration Foundation*, the Department of Welfare of Riga City Council, Riga public order maintenance fund, and the socially responsible company “Philip Morris International”, various activities are to be implemented this month, in the framework of which the society organizes seminars for social work professionals and municipal police officers working in Riga, training for preparation of peer educators, as well as a special simulation game about human trafficking, which will be used with non-formal education methods from October 18 in educational institutions of Latvia – schools, vocational schools and social institutions.

Within the framework of the final event of the Anti-Trafficking Month – on 18 October 2014 – society “Shelter “Safe House”” offers their partners and mass media not only to exchange impressions on the work done during this month in an informal atmosphere, but also to participate in a simulation game, which allows every participant to enter into the role of a victim of human trafficking.

Activities will take place in the facilities of Olaine History and Art Museum – Zemgales Street 33 and Mežaparks park next to the museum.

At the same time, from 11:00 to 15:00, the inhabitants and visitors of Olaine will be the first given the opportunity to see the informative trailer of society “Shelter “Safe House”” on human trafficking with the new exhibition and get on-site advice from experienced experts of the organization.
