Participation in the creation of Aluksne Anniversary Belt

January 2 marked 95 years since Aluksne was awarded the status of a city, therefore various events marking the anniversary are held in the city from January to the city celebrations. The first one was held on January 9 at 11:00 in Aluksne New Castle, when the weaving of the special Aluksne anniversary belt was commenced. Local government authorities and members of the city council were invited to weave the first pattern. Members of the Latvian everyday speech club – third-country nationals residing in Aluksne – also attended the event and took part in weaving of the belt. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
