Seminars for Social Work Professionals in Riga

On November 2 and 3, 2011 social work professionals from Riga are invited to attend this year’s last annual seminar “Preventive Measures for Combating Human Trafficking.”


The Welfare Department of Riga City Council and NGO Shelter “Safe House” invite Riga municipality social workers to attend a 2-day seminar “Preventive Measures for Combating Human Trafficking.”
During the seminar social work professionals will acquire comprehensive knowledge on the policy and legal framework of human trafficking in Latvia, the role of the involved institutions in the problem solution, current trends in human trafficking world-wide, as well as they will acquire practical knowledge and skills on how to identify a victim of human trafficking, how to provide clients with essential preventive information before a person has gone abroad.
Lecturers are leading experts in different fields. They will provide with information on the scope of human trafficking, preventive measures, the availability and contents of rehabilitation services for victims of human trafficking that now are included in the state funded programme.
Seminars will be lead by experienced lecturers who on daily basis work on prevention of human trafficking and help victims of human trafficking to integrate to a new life.

This will be the third seminar in 2011 held especially for directors of social institutions and social work professionals from Riga.
