Take part and "Dare to Be Equal!"

During European Week Against Racism 2013 (March 16 – 24) an event ‘’Dare to be equal’’ is will be held by the Society ‘’Shelter ‘’Safe House’’’’. Dance, gymnastics, game and life – these are the motives, that are going to represent the concept of equality during the event. Everyone is welcome to attend. Attendance: free.

At the event dances will be presented by an Indian dance group, the laws of physics are going to be broken by the street gymnasts from group Limitless Workout and capoeira dancers from the group Cordao de Ouro Riga, game is going to be shown by the performance of actors from the improvisational theatre Improvide.

Stories about the motion in life are going to be told by so called ‘’live libraries’’ – people from Brasil, Germany and Pakistan who have experienced the movement in direct way – by travelling to Latvia or settling here.

Time and place of the event: March 22nd, 16.00 pm, Culture Centre Kaņepes, Skolas Street 15, Riga.

Līva Liepkalne, volunteer in the Society ‘’Shelter ‘’Safe House’’’’: ‘’Organization UNITED have been conducting the week of activities against racism in Europe for several years. This Year we (‘’ Society ‘’Shelter ‘’Safe House’’’’) are joining these activities by creating an event, that could draw society`s attention to such aspect of human relationship as racism. Nowadays everyone has the rights for life and freedom. We are living in the time of motion and interface, in the world where person and equality amongst the genders, races, nationalities, ethnic backgrounds and religions is assessed most.’’

Society ‘’Shelter ‘’Safe House’’’’ is working with the objective to develop the support, for the victims of human trafficking, legal migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and persons with the persons with alternative status by providing the rights of individuals for respective help and defence and promoting their integration in society. The volunteers of the society are actively involved in the process of informing the society about the mentioned issue by organizing interactive and entertaining events for youth. Last Year, according to the International Migrants Day (December 18th) volunteers of the society organized an event ‘’Vanishing Borders’’ with the intention of introducing the society with the experience of foreigners living in Latvia, reasons of their migration to Latvia, their lives here and the vision of the future.
