According to the Latvian public media portal LSM.lv, on Thursday, March 3, in the second and final reading, the Saeima unanimously supported the Law on Support of Ukrainian Civilians, which envisages providing support to Ukrainian refugees during the Russian invasion, as well as providing general support to Ukrainian society.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry was informed that the bill provides that Ukrainian citizens will be able to obtain a long-term visa and the right to employment for one year. The visa will be issued by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), the State Border Guard and Latvian diplomatic and consular missions abroad. Citizens of Ukraine who do not have all the necessary documents will also be able to obtain a visa. OCMA will be able to set a one-year deadline for submitting eligible documents. The visa will be issued without paying the state fee.
