The work will go on in the Project „Latvia – My Home”

Ievietots: 05.09.2012
Society „Shelter „Safe House”” has started implementing a new project „Latvia – My Home” to ensure a regular and systematic provision of support services to refugees and persons with alternative status. This project is similar to previous ones with social, legal, psychological and material assistance being provided. In this project though the emphasis will be put on refugees’ skills improvement programmes and municipality employees’ education about receiving and integrating refugees.

The Project (No AK/PDM/EBF/2011/1) „Latvia – My Home”, financed by ERF (European Refugee Fund) will ensure the longevity of the Project activities. The services provided to refugees and persons with alternative status in previous projects will also be provided in 2012 to 2013.
The activities of the Project „Latvia – My Home” are aimed at increasing the motivation, self-esteem, knowledge, and skills of refugees and persons with alternative status, also providing basic necessities. The key activities of the Project are skills improvement programmes which are designed to promote social integration and independent life of the target group in Latvia.

During the implementation of the Project seminars will be held in five municipalities in Latvia to educate their employees about the asylum system in Latvia, people’s lives after receiving status, and the significance of cultural differences in work with persons from different nationalities.
