Ievietots: 29.05.2020

Association Shelter “Safe House” informs that the Latvian language training course in the project “Support measures for persons under international protection”, which was implemented by PMC Mucenieki and terminated due to the state of emergency declared in the country, will be resumed on 2 June for Group 11.

The Latvian language mastering training course provides the project target group with an opportunity to acquire the Latvian language knowledge and skills necessary for work and everyday life while developing the main language mastering skills: reading, speaking, writing, listening and use of grammar.

Representatives of the Association point out that the integration training course will be resumed at the same time. For safety reasons, the courses will be held at PMC Mucenieki, so that the students don’t have to use public transport to get to the Association`s office in the centre of Rīga, where the training was usually organized. It is planned that the integration course mastering could be resumed on 8 June for two groups simultaneously.

Within the framework of the integration training course, the persons under international protection are provided with the opportunity to acquire knowledge about the Latvian state, state structure, history, culture and traditions, practical information about Latvia, about inclusion, principles of non-discrimination, communication, religious and cultural differences, housing market, employment opportunities, education system and opportunities for obtaining education, spending free time, healthcare system, social safety network and social assistance system in Latvia. In order for families with children to be able participate in the classes, childcare is also organized during the training course mastering.

From 2 January 2018 until 30 June 2020 support under the Support Actions for Persons under International Protection II project will be provided to 500 persons, among them adults, children, and illiterate asylum seekers.

The Support Actions for Persons under International Protection II project is implemented with the support from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and co-financed by the European Union. Grant Agreement No. PMIF/9/2017/2/01/
