This autumn, Alvis Šķenders, a lawyer at the Information Centre for Newcomers, went to Latvian town Tukums to carry out an important task. He was assigned to issue certificates of completion to Ukrainian civilians who have mastered the Latvian language at A1 level.
Alvis was accompanied by a film crew.
In Tukums we met Latvian language teacher Gaisma Mukane, the head of the regional office "Zemgale" of the Information Centre for Newcomers Iveta Dembovska, and, of course, the Ukrainians who graduated from the course. The bravest graduates also spoke to us in Latvian!
