Volunteer Training in Team Building!

Ievietots: 28.02.2013

Professionals at the society “Shelter “Safe House”” inform that on February 24, 2013 the first of the three volunteer trainings took place. The key topic of the training was “Team Building”, the goal of which was a practical realisation of the main principles of forming a team and learn about affective participation in the team.

“The topic of the training “Team Building” is important to everyone both in every-day doings and in unusual situations when a mutual understanding must be reached among different people to meet a goal. The training worked well to provide new information and ideas and look at common things from a new perspective. This was done through an informal method – learn while learning, which gives an opportunity see how the new knowledge can be put to practice. Not only I, but other participants as well reached a conclusion that team building is often an important yet absent step towards reaching a goal” says a volunteer Līva Liepkalne.

Participant of the training Lauma Jēgere found the training useful for self-development and self-discovery, finding one’s own hidden resources through working alongside one’s peers. “I really liked the creative workshops because I can learn more doing things in a fun way. The tasks we did will be useful in the future to implement other creative activities such as team building. I believe every participant benefited from the training as it gave a chance to find your inner leader and learn new things about a team and how it works for example cooperation.

Within the project Diverse Solutions for Public Education and Integration altogether three volunteer trainings educating volunteers from Riga, Liepāja and Olaine will take place.

The next training will take place on March 3rd 2013. The topic of it is “Volunteer work and tolerance”.
