World Refugee Day, 20 June

To celebrate the World Refugee Day - 20 June - and to introduce non-member country citizens residing in Latvia to the Latvian culture and traditions, on 20 June the Arabic Culture Centre in Latvia along with the NGOs “Creative association for youth TREPES”, “Shelter ‘Safe House’” and “Volunteer Platform Fund” organised a pre-summer Solstice event. In the courtyard of the association “Shelter ‘Safe House’” people welcomed summer solstice by dancing, learning Latvian ethnographic symbols and playing music. Traditional Solstice meals were enjoyed in the Volunteer building. Songs were sung in Latvian and even a Solstice song marathon was held. The project "Information Centre for Immigrants" is implemented by the society "Shelter "Safe House"" within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. The project is co-financed by the European Union. Grant Agreement No.PMIF/12/2016/1/1.
